MJX Fees Management is the fees module of Pathshala. You decide what each class pays once, Pathshala turns it into invoices, your staff record payments in seconds, and every payment gets a numbered PDF receipt that can go to the family on WhatsApp.

It is built for schools, coaching centres, tuition classes, colleges and skills institutes whose fee collection today is a register, a receipt book and a lot of phone calls.

## How fees work in Pathshala

Money moves through five steps. Each step has its own screen and its own guide.

::: steps
### Set up what you charge
Create **fee heads** (Tuition, Transport, Exam…) and give each class an amount per head in **Fee Structures**. Optionally add a **collection plan** (monthly, quarterly, or your own instalments).
### Raise invoices
On **Invoices**, make a bill for one student or for a whole class at once — by month or by instalment. Discounts and activities are added for you.
### Collect the money
Open the invoice and press **+ Record Payment**: cash, UPI, cheque, card or bank transfer, full or part. Parents can also pay online.
### Send the receipt
A receipt number is given at once. The PDF receipt goes to the family on WhatsApp by itself (Basic and above), and you can download or resend it any time.
### Follow up and close the day
See who is overdue on **Fee Collection**, send WhatsApp reminders from **Fee Reminders**, and count the drawer against the **Day-book**.

## Where Fees lives in the menu

When your institute has the Fees module, press **Apps** and choose **Fees**. The rows marked **Fees settings** are under the **Fees settings** row at the foot of the menu:

| Row | What it opens |
|---|---|
| Fee Collection | The money dashboard: today, this month, overdue, who to follow up |
| Invoices | Every bill; make new bills here and record payments against them |
| Payments | Every payment; view, cancel or refund |
| Day-book | One day's money in and out, line by line |
| Cheques | The cheque register |
| Parent Payments | Payments parents say they made, for you to confirm (called **Student Payments** at a coaching centre) |
| Fee Reminders | WhatsApp reminders for pending and overdue fees |
| Collections | Who is likely to pay late, and a 30/60-day forecast |
| **Fees settings** › Worth a look | Places where your fee records disagree (owner and admin only) |
| **Fees settings** › Fee Heads | The list of things you charge for |
| **Fees settings** › Fee Structures | Amounts per class, and the collection plan |
| **Fees settings** › Activities | Optional paid activities |
| **Fees settings** › Discounts | Your discount types |
| **Fees settings** › Payment Methods | Cash, UPI, cheque… and the online gateway |
| **Settings** › Getting paid & KYC | KYC for every account; the bank account step only when MJX collects money for you |

A row with a small padlock is in your menu but not in your plan; clicking it shows what the upgrade adds. A row that your role cannot open is not drawn at all.

> [!NOTE]
> If your institute holds Fees only because MJX LMS needs it (to sell courses), the section is called **Payments** and shows only what you need to get paid.

## Questions people ask

### What is MJX Fees Management?

It is the fees part of Pathshala. You set what each class pays, raise invoices, record payments by cash, UPI, cheque or online, send receipts on WhatsApp and see who still owes money.

### Do I need a separate app to collect fees?

No. Everything works in the browser. Staff can also take payments in the MJX Teacher app, and parents can see and pay their bills in the MJX Parent app.

### Can a parent pay online?

Yes, on Fees Pro. Connect your own Razorpay or PhonePe account and parents pay from the parent page or app. On every plan parents can also pay to your UPI ID or QR and tell you they paid.

### Does Pathshala send fee reminders automatically?

No. You choose who gets a reminder on the Fee Reminders screen and press Send. Nothing goes out by itself, so one wrong fee structure can never message every parent.

### Which words will I see on screen?

The words follow your institute type. A school sees Student, Parent and Class; a coaching centre sees Student and Target Exam; a college sees Guardian and Branch; a skills institute sees Learner and Course.
