# ATS match — AI resume reading against your requirements

> How MJX Hire Pro reads each resume against the job's requirements and shows an ATS match like "3 of 4, 75%", with the words from the resume.

The **ATS match** in MJX Hire Pro tells you how many of a job's requirements a resume shows — for example **ATS 75% · 3/4** — with the exact words from the resume beside each one. It is a count of what is written, not a verdict on the person. Your team always decides.

## How does it work?

1. You write the job's **Requirements**, one per line (for example "B.Ed", "2 years teaching Class 9–10 maths", "Good spoken English").
2. When an application with a resume arrives, the AI reads the resume against each requirement.
3. For each requirement it reports **found** with a quote from the resume, or **Not found in the resume**.
4. Any "found" whose quote is not really in the resume is thrown away.
5. The match is worked out by counting: found ÷ all requirements.

| What you see | Where |
|---|---|
| **ATS 75%** chip | Candidates (board and list) |
| **ATS 75% · 3/4** chip | The job's Applicants tab |
| **ATS match — 3 of 4** box with quotes | The candidate's page, under **What the resume shows** |

The chip is green at 75% and above, amber from 40%, and grey below. The colour is only a colour — never a decision.

## What the resume read also shows

Under **What the resume shows** on the candidate's page, you also see:

- **Experience the resume states:** the years written in the resume.
- **Qualifications:** listed from the resume.
- Past roles, with organisation and period.

> [!NOTE]
> The read says: "Read by AI against this job's requirements. It reports what is written — it does not judge the person. You decide."

## How to read a resume again

If you change the job's requirements after a read, the page says "The job's requirements changed after this read — press "Read again"."

1. Open the candidate's page.
2. Under **What the resume shows**, press [[✨ Read with AI]] (or **Read again**).

To read many at once, open the job's **Applicants** tab, tick people and press [[✨ Read their resumes with AI]]. People without a resume are skipped ("None of those have a resume to read.").

## Use the filters

On a job's **Applicants** tab:

- **Resume not read** — who still needs a read.
- **Resume shows half or more** — people whose resume shows at least half of the requirements.

## Tips for a useful match

> [!TIP]
> - Write each requirement as one clear, checkable thing: "B.Ed", not "Good qualifications".
> - Keep it to what truly matters — 3 to 8 lines works well. You can have up to 20.
> - Put "nice to have" items in the description, not in Requirements, so they do not lower the match.

## Who can use this?

- **Plan:** MJX Hire Pro (feature "AI resume reading and AI interviews"). On Forever Free and Basic the buttons show **✨ Read with AI 🔒**.
- **Roles:** Owner, Admin (where roles were never set up) and the HR role.
- Each read uses your organisation's monthly AI allowance.

## Questions people ask

### How is the ATS match worked out?

For each requirement you wrote on the job, the AI says whether the resume shows it and quotes the words. The match is simple counting — found requirements divided by all requirements, for example 3 of 4 is 75%.

### Does a low ATS match reject the person?

No. It is a chip on a card that a person reads. Nothing moves, rejects or hides anybody.

### Why does a job show no ATS match?

A job with no requirements has nothing to match against. Add requirements on the job form, one per line.

### Is every application read automatically?

On MJX Hire Pro, every application that arrives with a resume — from the careers page, an agency or added by your team — is read by itself in the background.

### Which plan has the ATS match?

MJX Hire Pro. On other plans the Read with AI button shows a lock.
