# MJX Hostel — rooms, beds and residents

> MJX Hostel in Pathshala keeps your hostel's rooms, beds and who sleeps in which bed, with free and taken beds at a glance.

MJX Hostel is the hostel register in Pathshala. It holds your rooms, the beds in each room, and which student sleeps in which bed — so "is there a free bed in the girls' block?" is answered on one screen instead of a wall chart.

> MJX Hostel is at its first stage. Rooms, beds and residents work today. Mess, the visitor log and hostel fees are planned but not built yet — the product page lists MJX Hostel as coming soon.

## Who it is for

Residential schools, colleges and coaching centres with a hostel, whose warden or office keeps a register of who sleeps where.

## What the screen shows

At the top four counters: **Rooms**, **Beds**, **Taken** and **Free**. Below are two tabs:

|---|---|
| **Rooms & beds** | Every room with its block and floor, how many beds are taken, and each bed as *free* or with the student's name |
| **Residents (n)** | Everyone living in the hostel now, with their room, bed and class, and a search box |

A student's hostel room, bed and the date they moved in also appear on their profile, on the **More** tab.

## Who can use this?

The **Hostel** row appears only when your institution has the **hostel** module. MJX Hostel has a Basic and a Pro plan; a plan may set a limit on the number of beds. See the [pricing page](~/pricing).

## Where to start

1. [Add your rooms](hostel/rooms-and-beds) — each with the number of beds in it.
2. [Put each student in their bed](hostel/residents).
3. Keep it current: move students out when they leave, and in when they arrive.

## Questions people ask

### What does MJX Hostel do today?

It keeps the hostel register — rooms, the beds in them, and which student sleeps in which bed — with counts of free and taken beds. Moving a student out keeps their stay in the history.

### Does it handle hostel fees, mess or visitors?

Not yet. Mess, the visitor log and hostel fees are planned but not built. To bill hostel fees today, use a hostel activity in Fees (Pro) for the students who stay.

### Who can change the hostel?

Only the owner or an admin. Everyone else who signs in can look it up.

### Why can I not see Hostel in my menu?

The Hostel row appears only when your institution has the MJX Hostel module. Without it the row is hidden, not locked.
