When a learner buys your course online, MJX collects the money and passes your share to your bank account. To do that, MJX and the payment provider have to know who you are and which bank account is yours — **once**. Everything for this is on one page, **Getting paid & KYC**, in four numbered steps.

## Where is it?

> [!PATH] Sidebar › Settings › Getting paid & KYC

Owner and admin only. In the app it is **Money › Getting paid & KYC** in the side menu. Old links to **Complete KYC** (`/kyc`) open the same page.

At the top, **Your steps** lists the four steps. Each shows **Done**, **To do**, **Being checked** or **Not needed**, and what it switches on. Tap a step to jump to it.

| Step | What you do | What it switches on |
|---|---|---|
| **1. Verify identity** | [[Verify with DigiLocker]] — Aadhaar + OTP, about a minute | No Aadhaar paper is needed. |
| **2. PAN** | Comes with DigiLocker when it is in your DigiLocker; otherwise upload your PAN card in step 4 | Sent to the payment provider with your bank details. |
| **3. Bank account** | Fill in the bank form and press [[Send my details]] | Selling courses online, sending your share to your bank, and WhatsApp messages. |
| **4. KYC documents** | Upload only the papers the step lists as **Still needed** | MJX checks each paper and shows its answer here. |

> [!NOTE]
> Step 3 appears only when MJX collects your sales. If your own payment method takes your money, step 3 says **Not needed** and you only do steps 1, 2 and 4.

## Step 1 — Verify identity

Under **Verify your Aadhaar in about a minute**, press [[Verify with DigiLocker]] and sign in with Aadhaar + OTP. MJX keeps only your name, date of birth, gender and the last 4 digits of Aadhaar. When done you see **✓ Aadhaar verified through DigiLocker** and do not need to upload an Aadhaar paper.

## Step 2 — PAN

There is no box to type your PAN. It is verified in one of two ways:

- through DigiLocker in step 1, when your PAN is in your DigiLocker — you see **✓ PAN … verified through DigiLocker — no PAN paper needed**;
- or press [[Upload your PAN card (step 4)]] and send a photo of the card.

## Step 3 — Bank account

The box at the top of this step shows where it stands. Selling a course online and WhatsApp messages both turn on once this is verified — by themselves. In-person classes and login codes work without it.

### Steps

1. **A · Who is being paid** — **Registered / legal name**, **Name your students see (optional)**, **What kind of business is it**, **Email** and **Mobile number**.
2. **B · Where you are** — the **Address** registered with your bank account and the **PIN code** (it fills in **City** and **State**).
3. **C · Your bank account** — **Name on the bank account** (exactly as your bank has it), **Account number** and **IFSC**.
4. Tick *"I confirm these details are mine and I accept the payment provider's terms for receiving money through MJX."*
5. Press [[Send my details]].

> [!NOTE]
> The account number is sent to the payment provider and not kept here — Pathshala stores only the last four digits.

### What the status means

| Heading | Status | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| MJX is set as your collector — your details are not verified yet | **Not sent yet** | Send the form. |
| Pending — the payment provider is checking your details | **Pending** | Nothing. "This can take a few days." |
| Your account is active — your share is sent to your bank | **Active** | Nothing. |
| Verification failed — please update your details | **Verification failed** | Fix what the provider names and send the form again. |
| Please add your bank details again — MJX has moved to a new payment account | **Set up again needed** | Fill in the form again. Your sales go on as before. |

### Verification badges

Under an active or pending account you see who checked your details:

- **PAN and bank verified by Razorpay**
- **Bank verified by Razorpay**
- **Being checked by Razorpay**

The section **What you have sent** shows your record as it stands: last sent, status, the masked account number, IFSC, bank, account name, and what the provider says.

## Step 4 — KYC documents

The step lists what is **Still needed** — for example your PAN card when DigiLocker did not have it, or a new copy of a paper MJX sent back. Under **Upload KYC document**, choose **Which document is this?** (**PAN card**, **GST certificate**, **Aadhaar**, **Cancelled cheque**, **Bank statement**, **Registration / incorporation**, **Address proof**, **Something else**), pick the file and press [[Send to MJX]].

A clear photograph is fine — you are never asked to type the numbers. Each document shows its state (waiting for MJX, accepted, or not accepted with MJX's note) and can be opened or removed until MJX accepts it.

## Who pays the gateway charges?

You choose per course, on the course form under **Fees on online sales: what the buyer pays** ("Ticked = the buyer pays it on top. Not ticked = it comes out of your earnings."):

- **Gateway & transfer charges** — shown with its percentage, "of what the buyer pays — the payment gateway and the transfer to your bank".
- **MJX fee** — shown with its percentage "of the course price", where it applies.

The form then works it out line by line: what the buyer pays, gateway charges, transfer charges, MJX fee, and "₹… you receive". In the app the same card is called **Fees on online sales: what the buyer pays**. See [Sell your courses](learn/sell-your-courses).

## Where is my money?

> [!PATH] Sidebar › Settings › Getting paid & KYC › Your sales and your money

"What buyers paid, what is yours, and where it is now."

| Figure | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **Sales** | What buyers paid. |
| **Your amount** | Your share after charges. |
| **In your bank** | Already transferred. |
| **Processing** | On its way. |

Each sale shows "Sale ₹… → your amount ₹…" and, once sent, its **Transfer ID · UTR** — the number to look for on your bank statement. Press [[Show all sales]] for older ones. Refunded amounts are shown separately and are not counted above.

If you owe MJX money (for learners you added by hand, or refunds MJX paid for you), the top says **You owe MJX ₹…** — "It comes off your next sale by itself — or pay it now." See [Plans and billing](learn/plans-and-billing-for-learn).

## Payments you collect yourself

For in-person classes you record cash, UPI, bank or cheque payments yourself (see [Tuition and in-person classes](learn/tuition-and-in-person-classes)). In the app's **Payments** screen these show "Collected by you — … No MJX fee on money you collect yourself."

## How to change your bank account

1. On Getting paid & KYC, under step 3, press [[Request bank change]].
2. Under **Why do you want to change it?** say why (e.g. "My old account is closed") and press [[Send request to MJX]].
3. Once MJX approves, enter **Name on the new bank account**, **New account number** and **IFSC**, and press [[Change my bank account]].

## Who can use this?

| Who | Can |
|---|---|
| Owner, Admin | Getting paid & KYC (all four steps), Request bank change. |
| Teacher | Not shown — "A teacher gets neither KYC nor the numbers." |
| Plan | Every plan. |

## Questions people ask

### Can I sell before my bank account is verified?

Yes. Until the payment provider answers, "your sales go on exactly as they do today". Your share is sent to your bank once the account is active.

### How long does verification take?

The page says "This can take a few days." It shows the answer as soon as there is one.

### How do I change my bank account?

Press "Request bank change" on Getting paid & KYC (step 3), say why, and press "Send request to MJX". MJX approves a change first, for safety; then you enter the new account and it is changed with Razorpay.

### Is my full bank account number stored?

No. It is sent to the payment provider and Pathshala keeps only the last four digits, so you will be asked for it again if you change it.

### Is there an MJX fee on money I collect myself?

No. A payment you record as collected yourself (cash, UPI to you, cheque) carries no MJX fee.
