# DigiLocker document checks for new hires

> How candidates share government-signed PAN and Aadhaar details through DigiLocker in MJX Hire, and how those checked documents follow them into People.

DigiLocker is the government's document wallet (signed in through MeriPehchaan). In Pathshala, it is used in **MJX Hire**: a candidate presses **Verify with DigiLocker** on their own page, and the government sends their signed PAN and Aadhaar details straight across — so your team never sees a photo of a photo. When that candidate is hired, their checked documents stay linked to their record in People.

## How it works, step by step

1. In MJX Hire, HR asks the candidate for documents. Those marked **DigiLocker** can be verified with one press.
2. On their candidate page, under **Documents asked from you**, the candidate presses [[Verify with DigiLocker]] and signs in with their own DigiLocker.
3. On DigiLocker's sharing screen they tick their **PAN card** and **Aadhaar card**. Address and date of birth come from the Aadhaar card, so nothing arrives if it is not ticked.
4. The candidate's application shows **Verified by DigiLocker**, with the photo, name, date of birth and **Address (from Aadhaar)**.

> [!SUCCESS]
> A document that came from DigiLocker says *"Came signed from DigiLocker — nobody here had to check it. You can still send it back."*

## What HR sees

| On screen | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Came straight from DigiLocker. We hold the last 4 Aadhaar digits only — never the full number. | The identity card on the application |
| ⚠ The names do not match exactly | Common after a marriage or a shortened name — not a reason to refuse anybody |
| The Aadhaar card was not shared on DigiLocker, so the date of birth above came from the DigiLocker profile… | The candidate did not tick Aadhaar |
| **Remove this verification** | Wrong person or wrong document — the candidate is asked to verify or upload again, and sees your reason |

## After the candidate joins

Their People record shows **Hired through Recruitment**, an **Open in Recruitment** button and **Checked documents (kept encrypted in Recruitment)**. The documents stay in MJX Hire, encrypted; People does not make a second copy.

## Who can use it?

| Who | What |
|---|---|
| Owner, Admin, **HR** job | Ask for documents, see DigiLocker results, remove a verification (MJX Hire Basic and Pro) |
| The candidate | Verify on their own candidate page |

If DigiLocker is not available, the candidate sees *"Could not open DigiLocker just now. Please upload a copy instead."*

## Questions people ask

### Do we store the full Aadhaar number?

No. Only the last 4 Aadhaar digits are held — never the full number.

### What does DigiLocker send?

The signed PAN, the Aadhaar name, photo, date of birth and address — but only the cards the candidate ticks on DigiLocker's sharing screen.

### Can a candidate upload a copy instead?

Yes. Uploading a PDF or a clear photo still works if they prefer.

### Can I keep an existing employee's Aadhaar in People?

No. Aadhaar and government photo-ID cannot be kept in People's documents yet. DigiLocker checks happen in MJX Hire, before the person joins.

### Which plan has DigiLocker checks?

MJX Hire Basic includes recruitment agencies and DigiLocker document checks.
