# WhatsApp automation for schools, coaching centres and businesses

> What MJX WhatsApp Automation does in Pathshala — AI replies, templates, broadcasts, the inbox and the WhatsApp bill — and where to start.

**MJX WhatsApp Automation** is the WhatsApp engine inside Pathshala. It answers enquiries on WhatsApp day and night with AI, sends the right PDF when someone asks for it, sends your reminders and alerts as Meta-approved templates, and keeps every chat in one place for your team.

It is for any institute or business whose front door is a WhatsApp number that nobody can watch all day: schools, coaching centres, tuition classes, colleges, skill institutes and small businesses.

## Shared MJX number or your own number?

Every account sends WhatsApp from one of two kinds of number. The card **Your WhatsApp number** on the WhatsApp Settings page shows a chip: **Shared MJX** or **Own number**.

| | Shared MJX number | Your own number |
|---|---|---|
| Who people see | An MJX number, not yours | Your number, your name and display picture |
| Setup | Nothing to set up — it works on day one | Connect it yourself in about ten minutes |
| New templates | Go to **MJX for review** first, then to Meta | Go **straight to Meta** |
| Reminders, receipts, alerts | Work | Work |
| AI replies from your knowledge base | Work | Work |
| Broadcasts to parents or enquiries | Work | Work |
| Broadcasts to numbers you type or pick from your phone | Not available | Available |
| Demo booking, admission forms and buying courses inside the chat | Not available | Available |
| Plan | Forever Free and Basic | Pro |

## Where is it in the menu?

Press **Apps** and choose **WhatsApp**. Its menu holds:

| Menu row | What it opens |
|---|---|
| **Knowledge Base** | What the AI answers from (`/knowledge-base`) |
| **Documents** | The Documents Library — files the AI sends when asked (`/documents`) |
| **Message Files** | Files your staff attach to replies (`/message-files`) |
| **WhatsApp** | WhatsApp Settings — your number, bill, templates, broadcasts and opt-outs (`/settings/whatsapp`) |
| **WhatsApp inbox** | Every chat on your number (`/whatsapp/inbox`). Shows a **Connect** chip until you have your own number. |
| **WhatsApp templates** and **WhatsApp broadcasts** | Your approved templates and the messages you send to many people at once |
| **Visits & callbacks** | Demos and visits booked from chats (`/visits`). With MJX CRM this is the CRM's **School visits** row instead. |

If your account must connect its own number first, the menu shows a single row instead: **Connect your WhatsApp number**.

If you use another product, such as MJX Learn or MJX CRM, that product's plan decides which WhatsApp features you get. See [Plans and billing](account/plans-and-billing).

Template messages are billed separately on your [WhatsApp bill](whatsapp/whatsapp-bill).

> WhatsApp switches on after KYC. If MJX collects payments for you, your WhatsApp messages start once your PAN and bank details are verified on **Getting paid & KYC** (Sidebar › Settings). Login codes are always sent, even before KYC.

## Web and app

Everything on these pages is on the website. The **MJX CRM** app (Android) has a WhatsApp inbox too, where you can reply, send photos, videos, audio, documents and locations, and hand a chat back to the AI. See [the CRM docs](crm/) for the app side.

## Questions people ask

### Do I need my own WhatsApp Business number?

Not on every plan. Forever Free and Basic send on MJX's shared WhatsApp number. The Pro plan lets you connect your own business number. Some accounts, such as a business that bought WhatsApp Automation on its own, must connect their own number before anything is sent — the WhatsApp Settings page tells you which applies to you.

### Does the AI reply in Hindi?

Yes. It replies in the language of each message — Hindi, English or Hinglish.

### Is WhatsApp charged separately?

Template messages (the ones you start, such as reminders, alerts and broadcasts) are charged per delivered message, plus 18% GST, on your WhatsApp bill. Replies inside a chat the other person started are free.

### Which modules send WhatsApp messages?

Every module that talks to families or customers sends through this one — admissions and enquiries, fees, attendance, notices, exams, certificates, courses, payroll and the CRM.
