Institutes that get the most from Pathshala's Academics do a little every day rather than a lot at exam time. Use these lists as a routine.

#At the start of the session

  • Add or check your Classes, Sections and Subjects — see Classes, sections and subjects.
  • Promote students to the new session — see Students.
  • On the Staff screen, give every teacher their classes and subjects. Teacher screens open on their own classes only after this.
  • Timetable › Day structure: add every period and break.
  • Fill the Timetable grid for each class, with a teacher on every cell. Check Coverage for empty periods.
  • Type the Syllabus for every class and subject (paste the chapter list).
  • Set the Grading scale before the first exam.

#Every day (teachers)

  • Mark the attendance register — see Student attendance.
  • Set homework on Homework and attach worksheets from Documents.
  • Tick off the syllabus chapter you finished.
  • Set lesson plans to Taught or Did not happen.

#Every week (office)

  • Open Homework › Not done and follow up with class teachers.
  • Check Syllabus portion covered per class.
  • Record Cover for any teacher who will be away next week.
  • Add new questions to the Question bank (Pro).

#At exam time

  • Create the exam, add every paper with date, time and "out of".
  • Publish the datesheet and Send it to families.
  • Print admit cards.
  • Build question papers (Pro) and print them with and without answers.
  • Teachers enter marks paper by paper; use Abs for absent children, never zero.
  • Check the Exam report — wait until it no longer says Provisional.
  • Show results, print report cards, then Tell families.

#Questions people ask

What should I set up first at the start of a session?

Classes, subjects, students, which classes each teacher has, the day structure, the timetable and the syllabus — in that order.

How often should teachers tick the syllabus?

The day they finish a chapter, so the portion covered is right before every exam.

When should results be shown to families?

After every paper is marked and checked. Show results, then use Tell families.
