#Keys and access
Who can make an API key? The Owner or an Admin, on CRM › Setup › Advanced: API & webhooks. See Authentication and API keys.
I lost my key. Can I see it again? No — it is shown once. Revoke it and make a new one.
Does a key work for more than one institute? No. A key belongs to one institute, and only that institute's leads can be reached with it.
Can a key be limited to reading? Yes. Pick Only read when you make it. It cannot add or change anything, and an AI assistant using it sees only the read tools.
What happens if the institute moves from Pro to Basic? Calls are refused with "The API comes with MJX CRM Pro." The keys are kept and work again on Pro.
#Leads
What fields are required to add a lead? A phone number or an email. Send a name too. See CRM API reference.
My form uses different field names. Do I have to rename them? No. full_name, mobile, whatsapp, requirement and many other spellings are recognised. Unknown fields are kept as Additional details.
What does "duplicate": true mean? The phone (or, with no phone, the email) already belongs to a lead. Nothing was written; the existing lead is returned.
Are foreign numbers accepted? Yes. A foreign number with its country code is kept as +<digits>.
What are the statuses? new, in_conversation, follow_up_due, converted, lost. On screen they read New, Talking, Call back, Admitted / Joined / Won, and Not interested.
#Webhooks
Which events are there? lead.created and lead.status_changed (with previous_status), plus ping from Send a test. See Lead webhooks.
Can my webhook be on http:// or a local address? No. It must be https:// on port 443 and on the public internet.
What if my server is down? We retry once after a minute. After 20 failures in a row the webhook turns itself off until you press Turn on again.
#Lead sources and connectors
What is the difference between a lead source and the API? A lead source is a one-way address for sending leads in, with no key, safe for a browser. The API needs a key and can also read and update.
How do I connect Facebook lead ads? Press Connect Facebook on the Facebook & Instagram card. See Lead connectors setup.
Can I put the form on WordPress or Wix? Yes. See Embed the web form.
#MCP
Which AI assistants can connect? Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, the Claude API's MCP connector, and any MCP client that can send an Authorization header. See MCP server.
Can an assistant message my leads? No. MCP tools never send messages and cannot delete.
#Limits
What is the rate limit? 120 requests a minute per key (REST and MCP together). See Rate limits and errors.
#Support
WhatsApp or call 7996837555, or email info@mjxtechnologies.com.
#Questions people ask
Where do I find my API base address?
On the Integrations page under For your developer — "Base address". It is your institute's own address followed by /api/v1/crm.
Do I need CRM Pro for a website form?
No. The enquiry form, its embed code and a website lead source (Any form or tool) work on every plan. The API, webhooks, MCP and the IndiaMART, JustDial, Meta, LinkedIn, Google Ads and missed-call sources need Pro.
Does a lead added through the API get a WhatsApp welcome?
No. Nothing added through the API, MCP or a lead source sends a message. Setting next_followup_at later lets the automatic follow-up message the person.
Can I delete or assign leads through the API?
No. The API reads, adds and updates leads (status, tags, follow-up date) and adds notes.
Is there an API for students, fees or attendance?
No. The public API covers MJX CRM leads only. The private app API (/api/app/v1) is not for other software.
How do I test without a real lead?
Use your own number and delete the lead afterwards, or press "Send a test" on a webhook to get a ping with no lead in it.
