Sell courses on WhatsApp — list, buy and pay inside your own chat
Let learners see your courses, buy one and pay for it inside your own WhatsApp number, and get their course link in the same chat. What the learner sees and what you set up.
When somebody messages your own WhatsApp number and asks for your courses, they can see the list with prices, open one, tap Buy and pay — all inside the chat. Once the payment is confirmed, their course link is sent to them in the same chat. You do not have to reply by hand.
#What the learner sees
- They write courses (or "buy", "course fees", "which courses do you have"), or tap 📚 Courses under one of the AI's answers.
- A list of your courses on sale, each with its price. Tapping See courses opens it. With more than ten courses, the last row is More courses, which sends the link to your course page.
- They tap a course. They see its short description, the kind of course, the number of lessons, the next batch start (if it has batches) and the price, with three buttons:
- 🛒 Buy now
- 👀 Free preview — only when the course has free lessons. It sends the link to the course page.
- 💬 Talk to us — your team is told and a course enquiry is added to your Enquiries list.
- They tap Buy now.
- If the course has batches, they choose one first.
- Their name is taken from their WhatsApp profile. If WhatsApp has none, they are asked for it once.
- They get a Pay ₹… button. The message says: "Your course opens within a few minutes of paying, and your course link will be sent here."
- After paying, they get Payment received with their course link, and one line on the app: how to get MJX Learn and sign in with the institute code and this WhatsApp number (or your own app, when it is live on Google Play).
#Discount codes
When a course has a code that can be used, the course card says "Have a coupon code? Type coupon before you tap Buy." The learner types coupon, then the code. A wrong code is refused in words ("That code has expired.") and nothing is charged. The pay message shows the full price, the discount and the code.
#When you have no payment gateway
If your sales are not taken online (you have only a UPI ID, a UPI QR or a bank account), the learner gets:
- your UPI QR code as a picture, with your UPI ID — or
- your bank details (account name, number, IFSC and bank),
and the line: "After paying, send a screenshot here. Your course opens once your institute name confirms the payment." Nothing tells Pathshala that a UPI or bank payment arrived, so you confirm it yourself:
- Open Abandoned checkouts and tap the person. A row whose learner sent a picture in the chat shows 📷 Screenshot received, with View it and Open WhatsApp inbox.
- Check your bank or UPI app.
- Under Has the money arrived?, check Amount received (Rs) (it starts at the amount asked), type the UTR / reference if you have one, and press Confirm payment received.
The course opens and the learner gets Payment received with their course link and the app line — exactly as after an online payment, with the invoice. Pressing it twice does nothing the second time. An amount lower than the one asked is refused; use Give access without a payment if you want to accept it. Only an owner or admin can confirm.
When MJX collects your sales, this never happens — every learner gets the Pay button.
#What you need to set up
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Your own WhatsApp number — comes with the Pro plan | Connect your own number |
| Getting paid & KYC done — without it the courses are not offered and the learner is told courses cannot be bought on WhatsApp yet | Get paid |
| Courses on sale with a price, shown on your public course page | Sell your courses |
| The "Sell courses on WhatsApp" switch — on by default | See below |
| Templates approved on your number — for the course-access message and the payment reminder (the chat itself needs none) | Press Get my number ready — see Templates |
#How to switch it on or off
- Find Sell courses on WhatsApp. It is shown only when your organisation has MJX Learn.
- Tick it to sell in the chat, or untick it to stop.
- Press Save.
Only an owner or admin can change it. When it is off, the AI still answers questions about your courses from your course list.
#Who did not finish paying?
A checkout started in the chat and not paid appears on Abandoned checkouts with a WhatsApp tag, and Started on: WhatsApp chat in its details. See Grow your sales.
WhatsApp lets you reply free for 24 hours after the learner's last message. After that, a reminder needs the Course payment pending (WhatsApp checkout) template. It is in the Courses group of Get my number ready; Meta has to approve it on your number before it can be used.
#Prices in AI answers
The AI only quotes prices that are in your course list, fee structure or knowledge base. A reply with any other amount is replaced by your contact details, so a learner is never quoted a wrong price.
#Questions people ask
Does this work on the shared MJX number?
No. It works only on your own WhatsApp number. On the shared MJX number the AI still answers questions about your courses, but nobody can buy in the chat.
Which courses are shown?
Only courses that are on sale online with a price and shown on your public course page. Switched-off, unlisted and in-person courses are not shown.
When does the learner get the course?
As soon as the payment is confirmed. With an online payment link that is within a few minutes; the course link is sent in the same chat. With UPI or a bank transfer it opens when you press "Confirm payment received" on Abandoned checkouts.
Can I confirm a payment that MJX collects?
No. A payment MJX collects confirms itself. While MJX collects your course sales, money taken outside MJX cannot be confirmed by hand — use "Give access without a payment" instead, and MJX's fee is billed as for any course given by hand.
Can a learner use a discount code?
Yes. They type "coupon" after opening a course, then the code. A wrong code is refused in words and nothing is charged.
What if somebody already bought the course?
They are not charged again. They get their course link back in the chat.
Can I switch it off?
Yes. Untick "Sell courses on WhatsApp" on the Automatic replies & booking card and press Save.
