Put your lesson video on YouTube as Unlisted
Upload a lesson video to your own YouTube channel as Unlisted, copy the link and paste it into a topic in MJX Learn — free, and learners watch it inside your course page.
A YouTube video set to Unlisted is the free way to put a recorded lesson in MJX Learn. You upload it to your own YouTube channel, copy its link, and paste the link into a topic. Learners watch it inside your course page — the YouTube link is never sent to them.
In the topic form, choose Video (YouTube link) and press How do I get a YouTube link? under the link box to see these same steps with pictures.
#Steps in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio. Go to studio.youtube.com and sign in with your Google account. If it asks you to create a channel, press Create channel — one click.
- Create → Upload videos. Press Create at the top right, then Upload videos, and choose the video file from your computer.
- A title, then the audience. Type a title. Under Audience choose No, it's not made for kids (choose Yes only if the video really is made for children). Press Next.
- Visibility → Unlisted. Press Next until you reach Visibility, and choose Unlisted.
- Save → copy the link. Press Save. Copy the Video link YouTube shows (it starts with
https://youtu.be/).
Then, back in MJX Learn, paste the link into the Paste the YouTube link box and press Add topic (or Save changes when you edit a topic).
#If the form says the video will not play
Under the link box you may see:
- "Found on YouTube: (the title)." — the link works.
- "YouTube will not play this video for your learners: it is Private, or playing it on other websites is switched off. In YouTube Studio set Visibility to Unlisted (and keep Allow embedding on), then paste the link again."
- "YouTube cannot find this video. Check the link — the video may have been deleted."
To fix a private video: open it in YouTube Studio, press Details, change Visibility to Unlisted, and save. The link stays the same. Under Show more › License, keep Allow embedding ticked.

#Questions people ask
Why Unlisted and not Private?
A Private video plays only for your own Google account, so your learners would see an error. Unlisted plays for anybody who has the link, and MJX Learn never shows learners the link — they watch inside your course page.
Why not Public?
A Public video can be found by anybody on YouTube and in Google search, so people who have not paid could watch it.
Does this cost anything?
No. YouTube links are free on every MJX Learn plan, with no limit on how many you add. Uploading your own video file to MJX instead is the paid MJX Protected Video add-on.
How do I know the link will play?
When you paste a link in the topic form, MJX Learn asks YouTube about it. If YouTube says the video is private or cannot be found, the form tells you under the link box. The check never stops you saving.
